Paradigm Wrestling Coaches
Grant Johnson: Paradigm is proud to have All-American wrestler Grant Johnson join our staff. Grant brings over twenty years of wrestling experience to Paradigm and will be given the reigns to our wrestling program. Grant has a plethora of wrestling accolades: 3X Maryland State Champion, 3X High School All-American, Division 1 All-American at Boston University, and was inducted into the Maryland Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2006. Grant also had success as a professional bodybuilder participating in the “Muscle Mania” World Championship where he placed forth in the natural division. Grant is available for private lessons as well as personal training and nutrition consultation.
Reed Shelger: Reed wrestled at Wodberry Forest School under hall-of-fame coach Dick Glover, winning a state title his senior year. Reed went on to wrestle in college for Johns Hopkins University where he set the school record for wins as a true freshman before transferring to UC Davis. At UC Davis Reed was coached by Lennie Zalesky, Mark Munoz, and Urijah Faber.
Gordon Oehmig: Gordon is the head wrestling coach at St. Thomas High School. Previously, Gordon was the assistant wrestling coach at Episcopal High School under head coach Steve Leisz. Gordon was a prep state champion at the Kinkaid High School, where he set records for career wins and career pins. Gordon was among the first Houston area wrestlers to earn a scholarship to wrestle at a Division 1 school.
George Parker: George has several years of coaching experience and is currently the assistant coach at Episcopal High School in Houston. George was a varsity wrestler at Oklahoma State University where he earned the “Most Dedicated” award in 1994. George was a high school state champion in Oklahoma in 1988.
Thomas Mancha: Thomas has been active in wrestling for the past nine years. He started wrestling when he was a freshman in high school and has been passionate about the sport ever since. Thomas ended his high school career as Prep All-American in 2006. He continued training and wrestled for King College and John Carroll university. His emphasis on the fundamentals such as good stance and position make him a great beginners coach and training partner for anyone looking to improve their wrestling base. Thomas is available for group and one-on-one private lessons.
